OppoTrain Scales AI-Assisted Software Engineering Training at An-Najah National University

An-Najah National University sought to equip more than 50 engineering students with practical, AI-assisted software engineering skills across five disciplines: web development, mobile development, system design, UX/UI, and DevOps. The objective was not simply to introduce AI tools, but to help students apply them throughout realistic engineering work.

For OppoTrain, the delivery partner, the challenge was scale and consistency. A relatively small trainer and mentor team needed to provide hands-on instruction, technical support, and coherent learning experiences across multiple specializations. Many students were already familiar with chatbot-style tools for isolated questions or code generation, but had not yet adopted AI as part of complete engineering workflows.

OppoTrain designed a practical program centered on Claude Code and related Claude capabilities. The curriculum positioned AI within the engineering lifecycle: understanding requirements, exploring codebases, planning features, making multi-file code changes, debugging, testing, refactoring, documenting work, and supporting architecture, system design, and deployment/DevOps activities.

To scale delivery, OppoTrain used Claude to help prepare lesson plans, examples, exercises, technical scenarios, and differentiated learning materials. Trainers reviewed and customized these materials before use. The team also developed reusable prompts, labs, code examples, templates, troubleshooting scenarios, and assessments tailored to the five specializations.

Structured prompts, project context, review checklists, and reusable workflows created a more consistent experience for students. Trainer oversight remained integral: students were taught to review, test, and validate AI-generated outputs rather than treat them as final answers.

The initiative launched as a live university training program, with Claude supporting both program delivery and student learning. OppoTrain incorporated Claude into preparation and ongoing instructional workflows, while students used Claude Code in practical engineering exercises and project-based work.

This was live operational adoption across the university training lifecycle. It should not be interpreted as production deployment of student-built applications for real users.

The program trained more than 50 engineering students across five specializations, supported by a relatively small provider team. Claude Code was embedded in practical, project-based workflows, helping students move beyond isolated chatbot interactions toward context-aware AI-assisted development.

Reusable learning assets and workflows improved delivery consistency. Routine AI-guided support also extended instructor capacity, allowing trainers to focus more of their time on advanced mentorship and learner guidance. The source does not provide completion rates, student-to-trainer ratios, project totals, assessment results, hours saved, or software deployment metrics.

OppoTrain demonstrated a structured way to scale hands-on AI-assisted software engineering training in a live university setting. By combining reusable Claude-enabled materials with trainer review and practical student workflows, the program supported a broad, multi-disciplinary cohort while maintaining instructional oversight and engineering rigor.
